Today, the activities of the Women's Conference in Qamishli were launched, under the slogan "Women's Participation is Necessary for Building a New Syria", which was organized by the #Peace Leaders Network and the #Shawishka Women's Association, with the aim of shedding light on the political reality of women in northern and eastern Syria, and empowering them to enhance their capabilities to participate in the new Syria. This conference comes within the project "The Political Process in Syria and Developments 2",
The conference was organized in the city of Qamishli with the attendance of 30 women from the regions of *Qamishli, Hasakah, Raqqa and Deir Ezzor, representatives of civil society organizations and self-administration institutions in Syria. Dr. Samira Mobaid, a researcher and political academic, and a member of the Syrian Constitutional Committee, Susan Zakzak, also participated via Zoom. Dr. Abeer Hassaf and a member of the Peace Pioneers Organization, Safaa Al-Taha, presented many proposals to the guests, related to the topics of women's role in the next stage and discussed them with the attendees. During the first day of the conference, women discussed several topics, including: the development of the political process and the intervention of the United Nations in the Syrian conflict, women's participation in the constitutional political process, the Women's Advisory Council - women in the Constitutional Committee, and women's visions and aspirations for the future of Syria.
