Within the framework of the Volunteers for Peace project, the Mitan Center for the Revival of Civil Society completed its training workshop on the "Common Ground Methodology"
This workshop aimed to deepen the participants' understanding of the theories and concepts of conflict, peace and violence, build their capacities and give them a set of tools that enable them to understand and analyze conflicts. As well as, to build a better response to deal with them as individuals and institutions based on a common ground approach in working with conflict.
15 participants and members of local organizations participated in this workshop, and the workshop lasted for five consecutive days discussing:
- Civil society in Syria, concept and roles
- The "Common Ground Methodology"
- Concepts of conflict, violence, peace /theories and causes/
- Understanding and analyzing conflict (identity and the other, perspectives and perceptions)
- Conflict analysis tools
- Root causes, relationships based on awareness of interests
- Working with the conflict according to the concept of common ground
- Methods of dealing with conflict
- Ethics of work in a conflict environment and human dignity
- Different approaches to working with conflict /Social sensitivity, accountability and ownership/
