Reducing Domestic Violence Against Women
2020-11-09
The initiative "Reducing Domestic Violence Against Women" was implemented within ASO Center's grant for local initiatives that funded a group of members of the NGO platform in NES. Their activities were implemented by the tripartite alliance (Engineering for Services Organization - Tayf Organization - River Forum Organization), Which lasted for several days in each of the three organizations' centers in different neighborhoods of Deir Ezzor city.
The initiative included two activities:
The first activity consisted of dialogue sessions to identify the causes and challenges that women face from violence or psychological pressures in their houses, by targeting a number of activists who have an impact on society.
The second activity was discussion sessions, in which ideas, experiences and recommendations were exchanged to alleviate domestic violence and its effects, in the presence of a group of women of different ages and segments in society.
The session axes were as follows:
1- Determining the deteriorating economic, social, political and cultural causes that have been the main reason since ancient times for practicing domestic violence against women.
2- The variation in the negative effects resulting from domestic violence, which is represented in family dispersion and reaching a stage of societal disintegration.
3- Discussing the new causes that have increased this phenomenon (domestic violence against women), which were represented in quarantine as a result of the emerging Covid-19 virus, in addition to the Syrian crisis that has extended for years.
Finally, the aim of this initiative is to increase awareness of solidarity and societal cohesion and to achieve effective solidarity between families and society in general, in order to advance a cohesive and conscious society, to reach a better and more stable future.
