Syrian Democracy and Peace week

2024-09-19
During the events of Syria's Week of Democracy and Peace, the Al-Ahd Organization, in coordination with the Demos Organization, held a dialogue forum for a group of young women to discuss human rights, democracy, and the rule of law. The session began with a reading and explanation of Human Rights Council Resolution 14/28, which pertains to the establishment of a forum on human rights, democracy, and the rule of law. The discussion also covered Security Council Resolution 2250, which addresses youth issues from the perspective of international peace and security. Various issues were debated during the session.

At the conclusion of the meeting, attendees adopted a set of recommendations:

1. Administrative bodies should encourage young women to take the initiative regarding sustainable development goals and involve them in their implementation.
2. Strengthening print and broadcast media to assist young people in accessing information to understand sustainable development goals; media should also facilitate dialogue between governments and youth.
3. Establishing mechanisms that enable young people to engage sustainably and effectively in peacebuilding, democracy, and youth-led transitional justice processes.
4. Enhancing and supporting youth initiatives to contribute to peacebuilding and disseminating successful local youth initiatives.
