About 200 Cases of Leishmaniasis were Recorded in Newroz Camp

Newroz camp in the countryside of Derik, Northeastern Syria, has recorded about 200 cases of leishmaniasis among the recently displaced people inside the camp. Arta FM radio said, "These cases are due to the infection of the displaced before their coming to the camp." They added, "The infected are of different age groups, and most of them are children and women, according to Khadija Othman, a health worker at the Kurdish Red Crescent point in the camp." They pointed out that "treatment is provided to the infected people on Mondays and Thursdays, noting that the necessary medicines for treatment are available with the support of the Monitor organization." They explained that "Newroz camp houses more than 4.600 people, including 2.000 children, according to the Camp Relations Department."
